Understanding Solana Programs
A Solana program is code that runs when an instruction calls it. A journal program might create an entry, edit it or delete it, while separate data accounts store the entries.
The basics
- The program ID is the address of the deployed code.
- A signer proves that a key approved an action. A program must still check whether that signer is allowed to perform it.
- Anchor can describe account requirements and generate an interface description, called an IDL, for clients.
Try it yourself
Write down three actions for a journal app and who should be allowed to use each. For editing, require the entry’s author—not just any connected wallet.
